Opportunities to Serve Our Community, Support Haiti Missions Trip, Christmas Program and Dinner Social (Pastoral Emphasis for 12/2)

Our mission is to worship Christ, spread the Gospel, and serve the community.  As we enter the Christmas holiday season, we have a few great opportunities for us to serve our community:
  • Zone 3 is now sponsoring a Coat Drive until 12/9. We are asking members (all zones) to donate any coats that would help warm another this winter season. Please bring all CLEAN coats to the church and put in collection box that is marked. Thank you for your support!
  • Our Missions Ministry is collecting toiletry items for the area nursing homes residents for Christmas gifts. Please bring all items to the church and place them in the marked collection boxes. All items will be collected until 12/7. Items needed: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, socks, mouthwash, depends, all sizes hand sanitizer, tissue (Kleenex).
  • Then on 12/8 at 4pm, we will be Christmas Caroling at the local area nursing homes. All participants are asked to arrive at the church no later than 3:15 for departure at 3:30.
If you've ever wondered how you can help spread the Gospel to the nations when you are not able to go on a missions trip…well, you can support someone going on a missions trip. Our Haiti Missions Team is going to Haiti in January and you support any of them in their fundraising. You can contact Deacon Rufus Credle via email or see Sis. Nicole Sawyer. If you don't know how to contact them, you can contact the church office.

On Saturday, 12/15, Mt. Zion is having a Christmas Program and Buffet Dinner Social. Please come out and enjoy the Fine Arts Ministry Christmas Presentation "Born to Die", as we celebrate the birth of Christ, through a Christian atmosphere of a theatrical presentation, music, food and fellowship. A buffet dinner will be served following the presentation. Mt. Zion members are asked to participate in this event by providing their favorite home cooked dessert to share with the Mt. Zion family.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
