"Church Busyness", Sign-up for Backpack Outreach, The Divine Institution (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/12)

On yesterday, we celebrated another homegoing with our Sister Barbara Stephens. Continue to pray for Sister Linda Spears and the Stephens family. Family, we have experienced another loss which is another reminder that there is no time for us to simply be engaged in "church busyness" and "religious activities". We must be actively engaged in spreading the Gospel (Project: Witness To Thy Neighbor), being missional, and making disciples.

We are partnering with Mosaic Church of Cary for a School Backpack Outreach. Volunteers are needed to assist with assembling and distributing "Back to School" supplies on Saturday, August 18th, at 9:00am at Mosaic Church in Cary. Sign up online. Supply donations can be dropped off here anytime between now and August 18th. Copies of the supply list are available at the Welcome Center. If you have questions contact Sis. Linda Reynolds or the church office.

God's mission will also take us to other countries. In July, a group of missionaries went to Ecuador.  We were very proud to have our first teen go on a mission trip.  Young Bro. Derrick Wiggin shared his testimony from the trip.

You may have noticed some football practices happening on our open field. We're going to be a backup location for the Cary Chargers practices. This is an opportunity for community exposure and some revenue.

Many of you may have heard of the Chic-Fil-A "controversy" (where Dan Cathy expressed his belief of marriage being between a man & a woman).  Many will attack Chic-Fil-A and Christians for their view of traditional marriage based on Scripture.  We will see in Ephesians that marriage is a reflection of Christ and the church.  An attack against marriage is an attack against Christ and the church.  Marriage is a divine institution created and defined by God.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
