The Gospel in 2 Minutes, Practical Ways to Share Your Faith, Ecuador Mission Team (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/8)

Please keep the family of Sis. Alice Shorts in your prayers. We had her homegoing service on yesterday. Often churches measure their "success" by the number of new members and baptisms. That's good, but a better measurement might be the number of faithful saints buried who still professed and trusted in Christ.  That is a great testament to the faithful of our God and a church's fidelity to preaching the Gospel and making disciples.

Next Radical Love project is Witness to Thy Neighbor. For the next quarter, the challenge is to intentionally share the Gospel with at least 1 person. It's important for us to know the Gospel so that we can share it. Even if you have to sing it or rap it, share the Gospel.

BTW, Trip Lee is coming to Raleigh on 7/22. Get your tickets here!

Here are some practical things to help you share your faith:
  • Let people around you know you are a Christian (in a natural, unforced way)
  • Ask friends and neighbor about their faith – and just listen!
  • Listen to your friends' and neighbors' problems – maybe offer to pray for them
  • Share your problems with others – testify to how your faith helps you
  • Give them the Story booklet (pick up copies at the Welcome Center)
  • Invite them to a church event or Bible Study and talk about it afterwards
  • Host a prayer or Bible Study group in your home
  • Check out the website for more ideas

It's almost time for our Ecuador Mission Trip. Our team from Mt. Zion (My wife and I, Minister Kevin Coppage, Deacon Matt Darby, Jr. Deacon Derrick Wiggins) will be going with Cary COG and other churches from 7/15 to 7/23.  Pray for us and all of the missionaries that God would use us to spread the Gospel and share His love with the Ecuadorians.

Its vacation time and giving dips during the summer months but our bills do not stop. Your generous giving is extremely important for us. If our members can continue to give at least 5% or more above your normal giving, it will help us meet our budget. Thanks to all who sacrifice to give more.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
