Bereavements, VBS, Birthday Thanks (Pastoral Emphasis for 5/31)

Bereavements

Please keep several families in your prayers during this season of loss.

We ask that you pray for Bro. Calvin Gray and his family as they grieve the passing of his niece and aunt. This is Sis. Janelle Wallace's cousin and great-aunt. Pray for God's comfort, peace, and strength, as well as safe travels for family members journeying to Alabama for the services.

We also ask you to pray for the family of former Mt. Zion member Cathy Durden, the sister of Donita Harrison, wife of Deacon Wes Harrison. May the Lord surround all who are grieving with His presence and sustaining grace.

Have You Registered for VBS?

Have you registered for Vacation Bible School yet? If not, what are you waiting for?

Join us June 24–28 as we travel to Wonder Junction to "Marvel at Jesus, Live for His Glory!"

VBS is designed for the entire family, with classes for adults and children, exciting activities, engaging Bible lessons, and dinner served each evening. We also encourage everyone to join in the western theme by wearing your favorite boots, hats, bandanas, and western attire.

Registration is available online, or you can stop by the sign-up table on Sundays for assistance.

VBS T-Shirt Orders

Don't forget to order your VBS T-shirt!

Simply scan the QR code to place your order. Families with three or more members and at least one school-aged child may qualify for assistance with shirt costs. If that applies to your family, please see Tina Wyche for more information.

The deadline to place your order is Sunday, June 7, by the end of the day.

If you have questions, please contact Brittany Hardy Graham or Kelly Macklin.

VBS Function at the Junction Community Celebration

As part of VBS week, we'll host a special Function at the Junction Community Celebration on Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This event will feature food, fellowship, and fun for the entire family. Activities will include:

  • Bounce houses for children
  • Music and games
  • Cornhole and horseshoes
  • Chess and card games
  • Line dancing
  • Kickball

And don't miss our Old Mt. Zion T-Shirt Contest! Bring your oldest Mt. Zion shirt for a chance to win a prize.

We are opening this event to our community, so please invite your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members. Share the VBS registration link and help us spread the word.

Also, we need everyone who plans to participate in VBS—including volunteers, teachers, and workers—to register in Realm. This helps us accurately prepare for attendance, meals, and activities.

Birthday Thanks

I would like to personally thank the Care Ministry and all of you for the birthday wishes, gifts, cards, and expressions of kindness. You helped make it an incredible birthday celebration. In fact, I've been celebrating all month long alongside all of the wonderful May babies in our church family.

Speaking of May babies, today is the birthday of Bro. Calvin Gray and Bro. Wendell Graham! Please join us in wishing them a very happy birthday and praying God's continued blessings upon them.

Thank you for being such a loving and supportive church family. Let's continue praying for one another, serving together, and inviting others to experience the hope we have in Christ.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
